Desi avem senzatia ca vom achizitiona pentru toata viata un aparat, se recomanda, a o data la zece ani sa se schimbe unitatea aerului conditionat, nu doar pentru ca acest aspect inseamna un aer circulat mai curat, dar si pentru ca un aparat nou are alta eficienta, sunt generatii noi de aparate de aer conditionat care polueaza mai putin, folosesc mai putin curent electric si au diverse functii precum varianta sa fie setat prin teleon, de la distanta, sa porneaca inainte de a ajunge acasa, pentru a ne asigura confortul termic necesar atunci cand ajungem acasa.
Anual, trebuie ca un tehnician de service sa ne verifice instalatia de aer conditionat, asa incat sa sesizeze eventualele defecte, sa inlocuiasca filtrele sau sa le curete.
Si in masina este necesar sa schimbati filtrele la o anumita perioada, iar daca sesizati ca aerul conditionat din masina nu mai raceste, atunci este posibil sa fi pierdut freon si sa trebuieasca sa verificati acest lucru, pentru a se evita situatia in care sa reincarcati cu freon si sa se consume din nou.
